On 14 April 2014, over 270 school girls between the ages of 17 and 19 were abducted by the Islamic terrorist group known as Boko Haram from the Government Girls Secondary School located in the village of Chibok in Borno State, Nigeria. Before the kidnap, the school was shut for a month because of the terrible security situation in the area, however, the girls went to school to participate in her WAEC exams.
