5 October 2026 Nigerian Air Force ATR 42 crashes in Ondo State, killing all 25 on board — The aircraft, flying from Benin to Lagos with five crew and 20 passengers, went down in a swamp near Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area at about 9:13 am. President Bola Tinubu declared three days of national mourning and ordered an investigation; the Air Force is searching for the flight recorders and no cause has been established. (The Guardian)

22 September 2026 CBN cuts Monetary Policy Rate from 26.5% to 23%; reserves reach $55.25 billion — At its 307th meeting the Monetary Policy Committee cut the MPR by 350 basis points to 23%, kept the Cash Reserve Ratio for deposit money banks at 45% and reset the asymmetric corridor to +50/-300 basis points.
