The Civil Defence, Correctional, Fire and Immigration Services Board (CDCFIB) runs one joint recruitment for four agencies — the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), the Federal Fire Service (FFS) and the Nigerian Correctional Service (NCoS). Its last computer-based test ran online from 12 to 18 November 2025, with about 1.9 million applicants chasing roughly 30,000 positions; the interview stage of that same cycle was still concluding in September 2026. How current affairs is tested

The 2025 test was the Board’s first fully online CBT: candidates sat it on their own laptop or desktop with a webcam, at the exact window they picked during registration, with questions drawn randomly from a large bank so no two candidates saw the same set. The Board did not publish an official question count or duration; prep sites quote 40 questions in 60 minutes, and that figure is unofficial.

Across the four services the current-affairs content is the same: the serving Comptroller-General or Commandant-General, the Minister of Interior, the Act that established each service, the year the Prisons Service became the Correctional Service, and the national set of officeholders, dates and numbers. Candidates report that questions about their chosen agency are the ones most often missed.
