Police Recruitment Current Affairs Questions and Answers

The Nigeria Police Force constable recruitment test is a computer-based aptitude exam run by the Police Service Commission (PSC); the last sitting was held on 28–30 April 2026 after more than 400,000 people applied for 50,000 constable posts. Current affairs and general knowledge sit alongside English and mathematics in the paper, and the questions below cover exactly that ground: who leads the Force, the law that governs it, its symbols and history, and the national facts every Nigerian recruitment exam repeats. Every answer is dated so you can tell what is still current.

Dates and numbers are from Police Service Commission statements reported by Punch and Premium Times. The PSC has repeatedly denied viral notices about a reopened portal or a September 2026 training call; treat any date that is not on psc.gov.ng as fake. The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, runs a separate officer-cadet entrance — its 13th Regular Course screening ran 9–18 September 2026.

How current affairs is tested

The PSC has not published an official question count or duration, so this page does not invent one. What every recent cycle has confirmed: the test is computer-based, sat at designated centres in all 36 states and the FCT, and mixes English language, mathematics and quantitative reasoning, current affairs and general knowledge, including questions about the Police Force itself. Candidates who passed physical and credential screening are the only ones invited.

Current-affairs questions in police tests are almost always factual recall: the name of the serving Inspector-General, the minister supervising the Force, the year the Police Act was last replaced, the colours on the police flag, and the standard national set (President, Senate President, capital, independence date, number of states and LGAs). Learn the answers as facts with dates, not as stories.

Frequently asked questions

When is the next Nigeria Police recruitment?
Not announced as of 13 September 2026. The last cycle opened in December 2025 and sat its CBT on 28–30 April 2026. Watch psc.gov.ng only — the PSC has publicly denied several viral "portal reopened" and "training date" notices in 2026.
How many questions are in the police CBT?
The Police Service Commission has not published an official question count or duration. Prep sites quote figures, but none is official, so this page does not state one. Prepare for a timed multiple-choice paper covering English, mathematics, current affairs and general knowledge.
Is the police recruitment exam the same as the POLAC entrance exam?
No. Constable recruitment is run by the PSC for rank-and-file entry. The Nigeria Police Academy (POLAC), Wudil, admits officer cadets for a degree course through its own screening, which includes a CBT, physical and medical checks and a selection board.
What current affairs topics come up in police exams?
The serving IGP and minister, the Police Act 2020, the Force’s motto and flag, police history (1930 unification, first IGPs), plus the national set: President and Vice-President, National Assembly leaders, Chief Justice, CBN Governor, independence date, number of states, LGAs and senators, national symbols and the current budget.
