Atinuke Oyelode was crowned the winner of the first Miss Nigeria pageant, which was held in 1957. She won the competition at the Lagos Island Club, emerging as the top choice out of two hundred pretty ladies from across Nigeria. After her win, she was gifted £200 sum, a lovely cotton attire and a vacation to England.
