After spending months in Germany for treatment, Yar’Adua flew back to Abuja on 24 February 2010. His health condition was shrouded in secrecy but there were rumours that he was still in a vegetative state. Many political and religious personalities in Nigeria had dropped by to see him during his illness, stating that he would recover. Yar’Adua died on May 5 at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
