He won the seat at the general election of 25 February 2023 on the platform of the New Nigeria Peoples Party, defeating a son of the then Kano governor Abdullahi Ganduje, and the result was upheld at the election petition tribunal in September 2023.
Jobe resigned from the NNPP in January 2026, citing internal divisions and litigation within the party, and aligned with the All Progressives Congress. In February 2026 he was reported to have been jeered and escorted out of an APC ward congress in his home area.
