Abubakar Kabir Abubakar, widely known as Abubakar Bichi, represents the Bichi federal constituency of Kano State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He returned to the chamber at the 2023 general election as part of the 10th Assembly.
In August 2023 he was named chairman of the House Committee on Appropriations, the panel that manages the annual federal budget process. His constituency programmes reported between 2025 and 2026 include the recruitment of teachers and health workers for schools and primary healthcare centres in Bichi and the payment of postgraduate tuition for local students. He received honorary doctorates from Nigerian universities in November 2024.
In May 2026 he emerged as the APC candidate for the Bichi seat ahead of the 2027 general election. As of August 2026 he remains Appropriations chairman.
