Adamu Yakubu represents the Buji/Birnin Kudu federal constituency of Jigawa State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
He did not enter the 10th Assembly at inauguration. The National Assembly election petition tribunal declared the February 2023 poll in the constituency inconclusive in September 2023 and ordered a rerun; Yakubu won that rerun, held on 3 February 2024, taking the seat for the PDP in a contest again dominated by the PDP and the APC.
As of August 2026 he remains the member for Buji/Birnin Kudu.
