Kabiru Alhassan Rurum represents the Rano/Bunkure/Kibiya federal constituency of Kano State in the 10th House of Representatives. He entered the House at the 2023 general election and sits on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Rurum is a former Speaker of the Kano State House of Assembly and holds the traditional title of Turakin Rano. In the 9th Assembly he chaired the House Committee on Pension Matters. He was reported in April 2025 to have left the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) for the APC, and his name featured in 2025 and 2026 press speculation over the Kano deputy governorship.
