Badru Dolapo represents the Lagos Island I Federal Constituency of Lagos State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, having been returned at the February 2023 general election and sworn into the 10th National Assembly on 13 June 2023. He has served in the House across earlier assemblies, and was in office as a federal lawmaker by 2018.
In March 2018 Badru's son, Abraham Badru, was shot dead in London; the killing drew extensive Nigerian and British coverage. In March 2020 Badru commented publicly on the Abule Ado explosion in Lagos, saying residents had not ruled out a bomb.
In May 2026 he emerged as the APC House of Representatives candidate for Lagos Island Constituency I ahead of the 2027 general election.
