About Hon. Chinda Kingsley Ogundu

Kingsley Ogundu Chinda represents Obio/Akpor federal constituency, Rivers State, in the House of Representatives, sitting with the All Progressives Congress. He has held the seat since the 7th National Assembly and was returned at the 2023 general election. He was born on 24 March 1966.

Chinda was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1995 and practises as a partner in a Port Harcourt law firm. He was legal adviser to the Obio/Akpor Local Government Council from 2005 to 2007 and Rivers State commissioner for environment from 2008 to 2010. He served as Minority Leader of the House in the 10th Assembly until he formally resigned the office on 2 June 2026, having left the Peoples Democratic Party for the APC.

He emerged the APC governorship candidate for Rivers State on 21 May 2026 and, as of August 2026, is campaigning for the 2027 election while retaining his House seat.
