Christian Nkwonta represents Ukwa East/Ukwa West Federal Constituency of Abia State in Nigeria's House of Representatives, a seat he has held since the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in June 2023. He sits on the All Progressives Congress benches.
Nkwonta entered the House on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, and the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal upheld his return in September 2023. In October 2024 he defected to the APC; the Abia PDP responded by petitioning the Independent National Electoral Commission to declare the seat vacant, and no forfeiture followed.
As of August 2026, Nkwonta remains the member for Ukwa East/Ukwa West and has publicly aligned himself with APC organisation ahead of the 2027 general election.
