About Hon. Idris Dankawu
Idris Dankawu represents Kumbotso Federal Constituency, Kano State, in the House of Representatives, a seat he won at the February 2023 general election and took up when the 10th Assembly was inaugurated in June 2023. He sits with the All Progressives Congress.
His return was litigated. In September 2023 the National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal nullified his election over allegations of certificate forgery and declared the APC candidate winner; the Court of Appeal set that judgment aside in November 2023 and restored his mandate. Dankawu resigned from the New Nigeria Peoples Party, on whose platform he was elected, in January 2026, and was among eight Kano members of the House who announced their defection at plenary on 31 March 2026, a sitting attended by Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf.
As of August 2026 he remains member for Kumbotso.
