Alex Ikwechegh represents the Aba North/Aba South federal constituency of Abia State in the House of Representatives, sitting for the Labour Party (LP). Born 18 May 1973, he won the seat at the 2023 general election on the platform of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), and announced his defection to the Labour Party in March 2026, denying reports that he had joined the APC. APGA subsequently called on him and other defectors to vacate their seats.
In October 2024 Ikwechegh was arrested and arraigned over a recorded altercation with a ride-hailing driver in Abuja; a court granted him bail of N500,000 and the House opened an inquiry. He apologised publicly, and the complainant withdrew his petition in November 2024.
As of August 2026, Ikwechegh remains the member for Aba North/Aba South.
