Julius Omozuanvbo Ihonvbere represents Owan East/Owan West Federal Constituency of Edo State in the House of Representatives and has been Majority Leader of the House since the 10th National Assembly was inaugurated on 13 June 2023. He sits on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
A political scientist by training, with degrees from the University of Ife, Carleton University and the University of Toronto, Ihonvbere taught at Ife, Ogun State University and the University of Port Harcourt before going into exile in 1990. He held visiting positions at Toronto and taught African and third-world politics at the University of Texas at Austin from 1991. He later worked in the Ford Foundation's Peace and Social Justice programme in New York before returning to Nigeria, served as Special Adviser to President Olusegun Obasanjo on Policy and Programmes Monitoring, and was Secretary to the Edo State Government.
