Makinde Abiola Peter represents Ondo West/Ondo East Federal Constituency of Ondo State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress, having won the seat at the 2023 general election.
In October 2024 Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa named Makinde director-general of his governorship campaign organisation. He distributed fertiliser to farmers in the constituency in September 2024 and announced plans for motor parks across the two local government areas. In mid-2024 a group of constituents began a recall move alleging he had relocated abroad and was absent from plenary; Makinde denied the allegation.
In July 2026 his omission from the APC candidate list for the constituency prompted protests by his supporters. As of August 2026, he remains the sitting member.
