His return was confirmed by the Court of Appeal in early November 2023, when the court dismissed a challenge to the Labour Party victory in the constituency.
Nwogu had earlier sought the All Progressives Congress ticket for the same seat ahead of the 2023 general election. In the House he has pressed for federal road works in the constituency, including the Ulakwo-Imerienwe and Ngor-Eziama-Egbu axes, in a March 2024 floor intervention.
