In February 2026 Uzokwe called on the Inspector-General of Police to investigate an alleged assassination plot against the former Anambra governor Peter Obi. His bid for a second term drew organised opposition in the constituency: youth groups in Nnewi publicly rejected his return in May 2026 and petitioned Obi over the constituency's primary process again in June 2026.
As of August 2026 Uzokwe remains the member for Nnewi North/Nnewi South/Ekwusigo.
