Philip Agbese represents the Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu Federal Constituency of Benue State in the House of Representatives and has served as Deputy Spokesman of the House since the 10th National Assembly was inaugurated in June 2023. He won the seat at the general election of 25 February 2023, succeeding Francis Ottah Agbo.
Agbese holds an LL.B from the University of Ilorin and a master's degree in human rights law from Middlesex University, and worked in media and rights advocacy before entering the chamber. In the House he has been a frequent public commentator on defence and foreign-policy questions, calling in July 2026 for a rethink of proposed NYSC reforms and in August 2026 for a review of Nigeria's membership of the International Criminal Court.
As of August 2026 Agbese remains the member for Ado/Ogbadibo/Okpokwu and Deputy Spokesman of the House.
