Dickson Tarkighir represents Makurdi/Guma Federal Constituency of Benue State in the House of Representatives on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. Born on 12 April 1969, he was returned at the 2023 general election, and an election petitions tribunal considered and disposed of a challenge to that return in 2023.
Tarkighir previously sat in the 8th Assembly (2015–2019), where he was among the more vocal Benue voices against open grazing during the herder-farmer crisis. He came to politics from private business, including marketing and services ventures, and moved from the PDP to the APC in the 2018–2019 defection cycle. He has served on House committees including Appropriation, Defence, Health Services and Niger Delta Affairs.
