About Senator Abdulaziz Musa Yar’Adua
Abdulaziz Musa Yar'Adua has represented Katsina Central in the Nigerian Senate since 13 June 2023, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. He took the seat in a narrow contest, polling 153,512 votes against the Peoples Democratic Party candidate's 152,140 in the February 2023 election, and is serving his first term.
Yar'Adua served in the Nigerian Army from 1981 until his retirement in 2010 as a lieutenant colonel. He sought office without success in earlier cycles, losing APC primary contests in 2015 and 2019 before winning the party's senatorial nomination on 29 May 2022. He holds the traditional title of Mutawallen Katsina and is a brother of the late President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua and of the late General Shehu Musa Yar'Adua.
As of August 2026 he remains an APC senator for Katsina Central.
