About Senator Abubakar Sani Bello

Abubakar Sani Bello has represented Niger North in the Nigerian Senate since 13 June 2023, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. He succeeded Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi in the seat and is serving his first term in the chamber.

Bello was Governor of Niger State for two terms, from 29 May 2015 to 29 May 2023, and was succeeded in Government House, Minna, by Mohammed Umar Bago. His administration's education programme included the renovation of about 2,500 classrooms and the training of more than 6,000 teachers.

As of August 2026 he remains an APC senator for Niger North.
