Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole has represented Edo North in the Nigerian Senate since 13 June 2023, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. He has chaired the Senate Committee on Interior since 8 August 2023 and is serving his first term in the chamber.
Oshiomhole came to national prominence as President of the Nigeria Labour Congress from 1999 to 2007, leading successive wage and fuel-price disputes. He was Governor of Edo State from 12 November 2008 to 12 November 2016, taking office after a tribunal overturned the 2007 gubernatorial result, and was re-elected in 2012. He joined the APC in 2013 and served as the party's National Chairman from 20 July 2018 until his removal on 16 June 2020 amid a dispute over the party structure in Edo State.
