Muhammad Adamu Aliero represents Kebbi Central in the Nigerian Senate, a seat he has held continuously since 2015 and briefly in 2007–2008. He sits on the All Progressives Congress platform, having returned to the party in 2025 after contesting and winning the February 2023 election on the Peoples Democratic Party ticket. Since 8 August 2023 he has chaired the Senate Committee on Land Transport.
Before returning to the Senate, Aliero was Governor of Kebbi State for two terms (1999–2007) and Minister of the Federal Capital Territory from December 2008 to March 2010. His platforms over three decades have included the United Nigeria Congress Party, the All People's Party/All Nigeria Peoples Party, the Congress for Progressive Change, the PDP and the APC.
As of August 2026, Aliero had emerged as the APC consensus candidate for Kebbi Central at the party's May 2026 senatorial primary.
