Akpan Ekong Sampson is the Senator for Akwa Ibom South, Akwa Ibom State, elected in the general election of 25 February 2023 and sworn in with the 10th National Assembly on 13 June 2023. He succeeded Akon Eyakenyi, who held the seat from 2019 to 2023.
Born on 18 September 1967, Sampson served as chairman of Mkpat Enin Local Government Council and later as a special adviser and Commissioner for Environment and Petroleum Resources in the Akwa Ibom State government before entering the Senate.
As of August 2026 he continues to represent the district, which covers twelve local government areas in the state's Eket and Ikot Abasi axis.
