Jibrin Isah, widely known as Echocho, has been Senator for Kogi East since 11 June 2019 and was re-elected in 2023 on the All Progressives Congress platform, making the 10th National Assembly his second term.
Born on 28 February 1960, Isah built his early career in merchant banking, joining Chase Merchant Bank as an analyst in 1988 and rising through Afribank International Limited to become managing director of AIL Securities Limited in 1998. He holds a B.Sc. in economics from Bayero University Kano (1983), master's degrees from the University of Lagos (1991) and the University of Ibadan (2002), and an MBA from the University of Nigeria (2003). He sought the Kogi State governorship in 2011 and 2015 before winning the Kogi East seat at a supplementary election in 2019 with 134,189 votes.
As of August 2026 he remains a serving APC senator.
