Lawal Adamu Usman is the Senator for Kaduna Central, Kaduna State, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He won the February 2023 general election with 250,066 votes, defeating Muhammad Sani Abdullahi of the All Progressives Congress, and took his seat when the 10th National Assembly was inaugurated on 13 June 2023. The result was one of three Kaduna districts the PDP took from the APC that year.
Usman contested the same seat in 2019 and lost to Uba Sani, who went on to become Governor of Kaduna State in 2023. He holds a bachelor's degree in public administration from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, awarded in 2018, and a master's degree in international affairs and diplomacy from the same university, awarded in 2021, and has business interests outside politics.
As of August 2026 he is serving his first term, which runs to 2027.
