Mohammed Ali Ndume is the Senator for Borno South, Borno State, on the platform of the All Progressives Congress. He has held the seat since June 2011 and was returned again in 2023, making him one of the longest-serving members of the chamber.
Ndume represented the Chibok/Damboa/Gwoza federal constituency in the House of Representatives from 2003 to 2011 and taught at Ramat Polytechnic, Maiduguri, before entering politics. In the Senate he served as Minority Leader in the 6th Assembly and as Senate Leader from 2015 until his removal from that office in January 2017. He was elected Senate Chief Whip of the 10th Assembly on 4 July 2023 but was removed from the post on 17 July 2024 and replaced by Mohammed Tahir Monguno.
