Patrick Abba Moro represents Benue South Senatorial District, Benue State, on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. He first took the seat on 11 June 2019, succeeding David Mark, and was returned for a second term with the inauguration of the 10th National Assembly in June 2023. He has served as Senate Minority Leader since 21 November 2023.
Moro was Minister of Interior from July 2011 to May 2015 under President Goodluck Jonathan, and earlier chaired Okpokwu Local Government Council in 1998. His tenure at the Interior Ministry was marked by the March 2014 Nigeria Immigration Service recruitment exercise, in which 20 applicants died in stampedes; he was later arraigned on related charges and pleaded not guilty.
As of August 2026, Moro remains Senate Minority Leader.
