Samaila Dahuwa Kaila has represented the Bauchi North senatorial district in Nigeria's Senate since June 2023, when the 10th National Assembly was inaugurated. He won the seat at the 25 February 2023 election with 102,043 votes, narrowly ahead of the All Progressives Congress nominee Siraj Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad on 100,246; the sitting senator, Adamu Muhammad Bulkachuwa, had already lost his party's renomination.
Before his election Kaila served as Commissioner for Health in Bauchi State under Governor Bala Mohammed. He took the district's primary at Azare, defeating Laraba Gambo Abdullahi.
Kaila is serving a first Senate term, which runs to June 2027.
