About Senator Nasiru Sani Zangon Daura
Nasiru Sani Zangon Daura has represented the Katsina North senatorial district since June 2023, sitting for the All Progressives Congress. At the 25 February 2023 election he unseated the incumbent Ahmad Babba Kaita, who had won the district for the APC in 2019 and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party in April 2022. Zangon Daura had taken the APC nomination with about 77 per cent of delegate votes.
Before entering the Senate he sat in the House of Representatives for the Zango/Baure federal constituency. He is a son of Sani Zangon Daura, who was Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development (1999–2000) and Minister of Environment (2000–2001) under President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Zangon Daura is serving a first Senate term, which runs to June 2027.
