About Senator Shuaibu Afolabi Salisu
Shuaib Afolabi Salisu has represented the Ogun Central senatorial district since June 2023, sitting for the All Progressives Congress. At the 25 February 2023 election he polled 96,759 votes to defeat Olumide Aderinokun of the Peoples Democratic Party, who took 52,440, succeeding Ibikunle Amosun in the seat.
A native of Abeokuta, Salisu was Chief of Staff to Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State from 2019 to 2023, and had earlier worked as a legislative aide. In the 10th Senate he chairs the Committee on ICT and Cyber Security and is vice-chairman of the Committee on Media and Publicity.
In March 2025 Salisu led the Senate's move to scrutinise the proposed acquisition of Lafarge Africa Plc by China's Huaxin Cement Company.
