Shuaibu Isa Lau represents the Taraba North senatorial district on the Peoples Democratic Party platform and has sat in the Senate for the 10th National Assembly since June 2023. Born 27 November 1960, he first contested the district in 2015.

Lau entered the chamber on 5 July 2017, after litigation voided the return of Abubakar Sani Danladi and he was sworn in for the balance of the 8th Assembly. He was returned in 2019, defeating Ahmed Yusuf of the All Progressives Congress by 113,580 votes to 111,412, and re-elected in 2023. In the 9th Senate (2019–2023) he chaired the Committee on Public Procurement.
