Ireti Kingibe has been Senator for the Federal Capital Territory since 13 June 2023, elected on the Labour Party platform. The FCT returns a single senator, and Kingibe took the seat from Philip Aduda, who had held it for three terms; agents of some opposition parties declined to sign the result sheets before INEC declared her the winner.
A civil engineer trained at the University of Minnesota between 1975 and 1980, Kingibe is a senior partner at the Abuja practice Kelnic Associates and is married to the former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Baba Gana Kingibe. She first worked in politics in 1990 as an adviser to the Social Democratic Party's national chairman, and contested or belonged in turn to the ANPP, the PDP and the APC before joining the Labour Party in 2022. She was appointed chairman of the Senate Committee on Women Affairs on 8 August 2023.
As of August 2026 she remains the FCT's senator on the Labour Party platform.
