Michael Opeyemi Bamidele is the Senator for Ekiti Central, Ekiti State, and has been Senate Majority Leader since 4 July 2023, when the 10th National Assembly named its principal officers. A member of the All Progressives Congress, he first won the seat at the 2019 general election and was returned in 2023 for a second term.
A lawyer called to the Nigerian Bar in 1992 and to the New York Bar in 1999, Bamidele represented Ekiti Central federal constituency 1 in the House of Representatives from 2011 to 2015. Before that he held office in Lagos State as Special Adviser on Political Affairs (2000–2003) and as Commissioner for Youth, Sports and Social Development (2003–2007) and for Information and Strategy (2007–2011). He was conferred with the national honour of Commander of the Order of the Niger in October 2022.
As of August 2026, Bamidele remains Senate Majority Leader.
