Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo is the Senator for Nasarawa South, Nasarawa State, and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party. He won the seat at the general election of 25 February 2023, unseating the incumbent Umaru Tanko Al-Makura of the All Progressives Congress by 93,064 votes to 76,813 and carrying all five local government areas in the district. It is his first term in the Senate.
A businessman before entering politics, Onawo sat in the Nasarawa State House of Assembly from 2003 to 2011 and was its Speaker from 2003 to 2007. He then represented the Awe/Doma/Keana federal constituency in the House of Representatives across the 7th and 8th National Assemblies, from 2011 to 2019, chairing the House Committee on Industries (2011–2015) and the Committee on Information and Communications Technology (2015–2019).
