About Senator Sharafadeen Alli
Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli has represented the Oyo South senatorial district since June 2023, on the All Progressives Congress platform. A lawyer, he took the APC nomination for the district ahead of the 2023 general election, displacing the sitting senator Mohammed Kola Balogun.
Alli's public career began as elected Executive Chairman of Ibadan North Local Government (1991–1993). He was returned for Oyo South in 1996 on the United Nigeria Congress Party ticket but was never sworn in. He served as Secretary to the Oyo State Government under Governor Rashidi Ladoja from 2003, later as Chief of Staff, and chaired Odu'a Investment Company Limited from 2011. He holds an LLB from the University of Ibadan (1986) and a doctorate in legislative and strategic studies.
In the 10th Senate Alli chairs the Committee on Agricultural Colleges and Institutions, having earlier chaired the Committee on the Independent National Electoral Commission. He was inaugurated into the sixth legislature of the ECOWAS Parliament in 2024.
