Yunus Akintunde is the Senator for Oyo Central, Oyo State, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress and serving in the 10th National Assembly since June 2023. He is a first-term senator.
Akintunde won the APC senatorial ticket for the district at the party's 2022 primaries and took the seat in the election of 25 February 2023 with 108,776 votes (43.21 per cent), ahead of Bisi Ilaka of the Peoples Democratic Party on 101,213 votes. The result was an APC hold: the outgoing senator, Teslim Folarin, had stepped aside to contest the governorship. An election petition tribunal affirmed Akintunde's return in September 2023.
