Dangote Refinery Begins Production
Date: January 12, 2024
The Dangote Petroleum Refinery in Lekki, Lagos State, commenced production on January 12, 2024, starting with diesel and aviation fuel. Built over nearly a decade at a cost of $19-20 billion, the facility is the world’s largest single-train refinery with a nameplate capacity of 650,000 barrels per day.
At full capacity, the refinery can produce 50 million litres of Euro-V quality gasoline and 17 million litres of diesel daily. The project represents a major step toward ending Nigeria’s dependence on imported refined petroleum products.
