Palm Sunday Attack in Jos Kills 27
Date: March 29, 2026

Gunmen attacked the Angwan Rukuba community in Jos North, Plateau State, on Palm Sunday evening, 29 March 2026, killing at least 27 people. The Plateau State Government imposed an immediate 48-hour curfew across Jos North and Jos South local government areas to prevent reprisal attacks.

The massacre prompted Catholic dioceses nationwide to move Easter Vigil services from nighttime to daytime for security reasons. President Tinubu condemned the attack and deployed additional security forces to the region, while the Christian Association of Nigeria called for a comprehensive security overhaul in the Middle Belt.
