Introduction of Structural Adjustment Program (SAP)

Following a nationwide consultation, the Government implemented in June 1986 a full-scale structural adjustment programme (SAP) that indicated a shift from government policies in the past. It promoted reliance on demand and supply factors and the private sector in tackling the issues of the economy.
