Ibrahim Hassan Dankwambo has represented Gombe North in the Nigerian Senate since 13 June 2023, elected on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party. He took the seat at the general election of 25 February 2023 with 143,155 votes, defeating the incumbent, Sa'idu Alkali, who polled 77,948.
Born 4 April 1962, Dankwambo was Governor of Gombe State for two terms, from 29 May 2011 to 29 May 2019. A chartered accountant, he was appointed Accountant-General of the Federation on 20 April 2005 and resigned in January 2011 to contest the governorship. He had earlier worked at Coopers & Lybrand from 1985 and the Central Bank of Nigeria from 1988 to 1999, and served as Accountant-General of Gombe State until 2005. He is a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria.
