Sunday Marshall Katung has represented Kaduna South Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate since 13 June 2023, having won the seat at the February 2023 general election. He is serving his first term in the upper chamber.
A lawyer by training, Katung was company secretary and legal adviser at the Nigeria Reinsurance Corporation before entering elective politics. He served as a Kaduna State commissioner, holding the water resources and finance portfolios in 2010–2011, and sat in the House of Representatives for the Jaba/Zangon Kataf federal constituency from 2015 to 2019. In the 10th Senate he is vice-chairman of the Committee on Ecology and Climate Change, and in September 2024 spoke at a United Nations General Assembly side forum on African–Caribbean climate cooperation.
