Awaji-Inombek Diagomie Abiante represents Andoni/Opobo/Nkoro Federal Constituency of Rivers State in the House of Representatives and sits with the All Progressives Congress (APC). He first won the seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party in 2019 and was returned as the PDP incumbent at the February 2023 general election; he was among a group of Rivers State federal lawmakers reported in December 2025 to have crossed to the APC.
In the 10th Assembly he has been associated with the creation of the South South Development Commission, welcoming its enactment in March 2025 and calling publicly for competent leadership of the body, and with efforts to immortalise Jaja of Opobo. A court set aside his suspension from the PDP in December 2024.
