Ime Bassey Okon represents Itu/Ibiono Ibom Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom State, in the House of Representatives. He won the seat at the 2023 general election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party and was sworn in with the 10th Assembly in June 2023.
Okon left the PDP for the All Progressives Congress on 3 July 2025, one of six PDP members of the House to announce their defection at that sitting, citing support for the Tinubu administration's development programme. Reporting in June 2025 credited him with attracting about N1.7 billion in projects to the constituency in his first two years, among them a water scheme in Itu.
As of August 2026 he remains member for Itu/Ibiono Ibom.
