About Senator Ikeje Asogwa
Ikeje Israel Asogwa has represented Enugu North Senatorial District in the Nigerian Senate since 24 June 2026, when Senate President Godswill Akpabio administered the oath of office to him and three other senators returned in by-elections. Asogwa contested on the platform of the All Progressives Congress and was declared winner with 162,360 votes; the runner-up, Nestor Ezeme of the Peoples Democratic Party, polled 9,299. The seat had been vacant since the death of Senator Okechukwu Ezea of the Labour Party on 18 November 2025.
Before entering the Senate, Asogwa worked as an estate manager and was appointed managing director of the Enugu State Housing Development Corporation in 2008. He later served as chairman of the Enugu State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party from 2015 and as chairman of the Enugu State Universal Basic Education Board.
As of August 2026, Asogwa sits in the 10th Senate on the All Progressives Congress platform.
