About Senator Joseph Ikpea
Joseph Ikpea is the Senator for Edo Central, Edo State, elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He won the 16 August 2025 by-election with 105,129 votes, defeating Joe Okojie of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 15,146, and was sworn in on 8 October 2025 as a member of the 10th National Assembly. The seat had fallen vacant when Monday Okpebholo resigned it to be sworn in as Governor of Edo State.
Before the Senate, Ikpea was Executive Chairman of Esan South-East Local Government Area from 2013 and later served as Edo State Commissioner for Minerals, Oil and Gas under Governor Godwin Obaseki. He also chaired the Edo State Library Board and represented the state on the Universal Basic Education Board.
As of August 2026, Ikpea is serving the remainder of the term that runs to 2027.
