About Senator Pam Dachungyang
Pam Mwadkon Dachungyang has represented Plateau North senatorial district in the Nigerian Senate since 13 February 2024, when he was sworn in by Senate President Godswill Akpabio alongside two other new senators. He won the seat for the Action Democratic Party at the rerun election of 3 February 2024, polling 122,442 votes, after the Court of Appeal nullified the 2023 election of Simon Davou Mwadkwon on 23 October 2023 and ordered a fresh poll.
Petitions against the rerun result filed by the All Progressives Congress and the New Nigeria Peoples Party were dismissed by the National Assembly election petition tribunal sitting in Bauchi in August 2024, and the judgment was affirmed on appeal in October 2024. Dachungyang, a journalist by profession, is from Riyom in Plateau State. He left the ADP for the APC on 29 January 2026, his defection letter being read on the floor of the Senate.
